Splatoon

    Splatoon

Splatoon is a goofy game with nautical characters that are very agreeable. If it weren't for this game I would have a little less joy in my life.

I never played the first game. However, it was a little unrefined, Nintendo hadn't quite got the feel down yet. If you look back at the game after playing the newer games, you see the newer games have a lot more polish. This is just a standard thing that happens over time. There was a lot to learn from the progression of Splatoon for a game designer. You see the art style get more refined. Game systems get tighter and more efficient. The overall feel of the game feels much better when moving from Splatoon 1 to Splatoon 2. Stuff gets a little more chunky and colourful and vibrant.

    Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is a goofy game with more nautical characters that are agreeable. However, this time... Salmon. So. Many. Salmon.

This was the first Splatoon game I played. The story is more interesting, and the much beloved Salmon Run was added. Holy wow, this is my favourite mode if you couldn't tell. Hoard shooting mode where the better you do, the more rewards you get? YES, gimme all that delicious dopamine. That and the best DLC ever released for a game. FIGHT ME! The Octo Expansion was a goated story mode and it was so good that they brought it back for the Splatoon 3 main campaign.
